World of Warcraft Expansion Pushed to 2007 (PC)
Blizzard delays the release of the highly-anticipated add-on.
By Li C. Kuo | Oct. 24, 2006

Today millions of World of Warcraft fans probably logged on to Blizzard's official WoW forums and let out a collective cry of sorrow and agony as they discovered that the The Burning Crusade expansion pack will be delayed. Instead of a holiday release like many expected, WoW:TBC won't be shipping out to stores until January 2007.

In today's posting Mike Morhaime, president and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment says, "We feel confident that the extra time spent polishing the game will result in the high-quality experience that our players expect and deserve."

We went to Blizzard to see if we could get any additional comments regarding the delay, the reply we got was, "We expect to ship World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade in January 2007, which will enable us to extend closed beta testing and spend extra time polishing the game. We feel that the additional feedback that we'll gather from testers will help us put the finishing touches on the content coming in the expansion." You can expect a more specific release date sometime in the near future.
